It's not a straw man argument. It's a reality that must be dealt with.


I'm not saying that it should be a deal breaker. But let's face it. The Kick 6 game doesn't have the same mythical place in college football if we have a 12-team tournament.

BTW, there are ways to increase interest AND expand the playoff. One way is to make sure most of the additional spots created go to conference champions. That would increase national exposure by getting people interested in more conferences in different regions. But if you make it 12 teams, mostly at-large bids, expect it to be an SEC tournament primarily.

Here's my two expansion options:
1. 8 teams (w/6 conference champions, 2 at-large)
2. 16 teams (w/all 10 conference champions, 6 at-large)

I don't like a 12-team CFP.
